Part Three

The next morning 9am, Cherie has gone to work I decide to stay home in the office to catch up on paperwork, the phone rings it Ben he says "can i be in Charleston on Saturday to meet the board?? holy shit this is real.

I call Cherie at work and say i have to come and see you, which i never do, she is concerned there is a problem, I tell her Ben just called wants me in SC this weekend to meet with the board, again holy shit.


So, get online get a ticket to SC Saturday (it is Thursday)

I land in Charleston ben picks me up and takes me to his place, couple of pre dinner drinks the off to dinner with Ben and his wife, great food and a bottle of single malt scotch !! owing to Ben and my state of inebriation Ben's wife drives home while some in drunken car karaoke starts up, "I will pick you up at 10 in the morning" he says, off to bed Still dressed i think? can't really remember.

What is that noise i think in a blur with a dry mouth and a headache, it is 7am, the noise my phone "are you awake" says the voice on the other end, "of course i am" complete lie, its Ben "I will be there in 10 minutes to get you, gonna show you around before our meeting" you guessed it Holy Shit again, two minute shower and ready when he arrives, close call.

Couple of hour tour of Charleston and then off to the meeting with the board, it goes really well chat about Liberia and the project (The construction of a 76 room resort hotel on the beach in Liberia west Africa) I tell them i am very interested in the position "we will send you to Liberia to check it out so you can decide if you can live there" they say, fair enough i will have to bring my wife as well as she will be with me for the duration. (hopefully as i haven't told her anything yet) I think she was still a bit mad about me getting drunk with one of the board members prior to a big important interview.

I fly back to Colorado tell Cherie that they want us to fly to Liberia and check out the country, "no problem" she says when do we leave? Teeth clenched the answer "5 days" you guessed it "HOLY SHIT" "and if we take the job when do they want us to start" three weeks after that. I don't need to say it again as I am sure can figure out the respond to that.

Plane tickets arrive via email, Colorado to Atlanta to Belgium to Liberia 42 hours in total.
