The Adventure of life "if you are prepared to take it"

Well, to start our blog I have decided to step back a little and tell you how we first came to live and work in Africa.

We were living and working in Mammoth Lakes California when I (Mark) was offered a position as project manager on a construction job for a company who will remain nameless, for reasons you will see later.

This position lead to us moving from California to Colorado for the same company to manage another project, Cherie found a position at Vail Valley Hospital and we were off on the beginning of what has become quiet the journey around the world.

The nameless companies owner turned out to be a person that no-one wanted to do business with and it came increasingly difficult to work in Vail under his name, the final straw came when he told me to lie to the contractor we were working for which i refused, resigned and started my own company.

Cherie by this time had become Director of surgical services at Leadville Hospital and we had gone into escrow on a beautiful house also in Leadville Colorado, next came a new work truck and a new Audi for Cherie, yes we were starting the life of the Jones's.

The first sign of things to come was the house we were buying (which we moved into prior to closing) turned out to have a major tax lean and we could not close escrow, then the owner of the nameless company filed a restraining order against me saying he was frightened for his life??? really he was just trying to stop me working in Vail, and who in their right mind be scared off me.

Thats when I met Ben Gramling.

End Part One

  1. Hi Mark

Glad to see you are starting a blog, even though I know a lot of the story I will be interested to follow along. If you notice I clicked your follower button :-). You have both had a lot of great adventures which maybe one day you can turn in to a book. This is a great start to that, well done

  4. Maybe we should also go WAY back to when Mark and I met in 2000....or even each write a book each about our lives separately before we met and then write a combined book of our lives together. But do we include everything??? What do you think??
